Strength & Dignity: A Proverbs 31 Woman Wrap-Up

Proverbs 31 is probably one of the most talked about passages from the Bible.  Almost to the point where I can see that women may get tired of hearing about it.  I know the first time that I read Proverbs 31 my main take away was that this woman got up way too early and there was no way I was going to do that. The verses can seem daunting and overwhelming.  If taken the wrong way they can make you feel like a failure.

Proverbs 31 is a guide in what we should strive to be like.  It points us in the right direction.  It is not meant to be an impossible standard to try to live up to.  We should take these verses to learn how to better ourselves.  It is about progress over perfection.  We will never be perfect, so don’t set a standard of perfection for yourself.

Remember this passage is a snapshot of this woman’s life.  She did not do all these things in a day.  Don’t try to compare your here and now to what this woman accomplished in her whole life.

The main points to take away from Proverbs 31 are that:

We should keep God number one in our lives and seek his will in all that we do.
We should respect our husbands and build them up.
We should raise our children to love the Lord.
We should create a Christ centered atmosphere in our homes.

I really hope these verses are an encouragement to you and help guide you to be a more Godly wife and mama.

I can’t believe we have come to the end of the Strength and Dignity series.  I have enjoyed writing it and have learned a lot along the way.  I hope that these verses and posts have been an encouragement to you.  Proverbs 31 is not about being the perfect wife or mama, but striving to seek God in all you do, and to have a Christ centered home and marriage. In no way should it be an impossible standard to which we feel that we can’t measure up.

I have put together a free E-book that includes the entire Strength and Dignity series, so that you can have it all in one place.  Click the link below to receive it.

Strength & Dignity: A Proverbs 31 Woman {Part 21}

In part 21 of this series, we look at verse 31.  The verse says: Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.  This is the last verse of the passage.  Here we see that the Proverbs 31 woman is also being praised by those outside of her home.

Strength & Dignity: A Proverbs 31 Woman {Part 20}

In part 20 of this series, we look at verse 30.  The verse says: Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.  Another one of my favorite verses and a popular one from this passage.  This verse is such a good reminder that it is way more important to be beautiful on the inside than it is to be beautiful on the outside.

Strength & Dignity: A Proverbs 31 Woman {Part 19}

In part 19 of this series, we look at verse 28 and 29.  These two verses go together, so I included them in one post.  I feel like it is easier to understand them together instead of separately.  The verses say: Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: “Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.”  Sounds like every woman’s dream to be praised by her husband and children.

Strength & Dignity: A Proverbs 31 Woman {Part 18}

In part 18 of this series, we look at verse 27.  The verse says: She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.  This is one of my favorite verses out of this passage.  I’ve always wanted to be this type of woman.  I’m slowly but surely making some progress.  I hope to be the kind of wife and mama who has a household that runs smoothly, that isn’t cluttered with stuff, that is open to other people, and is clean.  It is a lot of work to run a household.  As wives and mamas most of that responsibility can fall on us.

Strength & Dignity: A Proverbs 31 Woman {Part 17}

In part 17 of this series, we look at verse 26.  The verse says: She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.  One of the hardest things to do is to control your tongue and the things you say.  Words are powerful.  Words matter.  We must remember to speak life over others.

Strength & Dignity: A Proverbs 31 Woman {Part 16}

In part 16 of this series, we look at verse 25.  The verse says: She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.  This is probably the most popular verse of this passage, and obviously where I got the title for this series.  When I read this verse I think about a strong, confident woman, and someone who doesn’t worry about things that are out of her control.  She is prepared for the days ahead and does not worry about the future.
