Word of the Year

I just recently learned about choosing a word of the year.  It is a concept that is new to me, but I tried it out this past year.  It is pretty much like picking a theme or core value for your year.  A word that embodies your goals and aspirations for the upcoming year.

Last year I chose the word SIMPLIFY.  I wanted to simplify my schedule, my home, and my work.  It was just what I needed.  I quit a job I hated and found one that I love.  It allowed me to have a much better work/life balance.  I got better at saying no to things that cluttered up my schedule, which gave me more time for my family.  I learned to let go of material things that cluttered up our home, which has brought a lot of stress relief to this mama.  It has really been life changing.

For 2018, my word of the year is FOCUS.  I really want to focus my attention to the things that matter.  Focus on God and his will for my life.  Focus on my family and how I can better serve them.  Getting my priorities straight.  I have a feeling that there will be some big changes this year, and I want to make sure my focus is in the right spot.

I would love to hear your word of the year.  Leave me a comment with your word and why you chose it.  If you have never chosen a word of the year, I definitely recommend it.  Here are a few ideas to get you started:

  1. Hey Kelly, this is fun you have started your word of the year. 2 years ago my word was Forgive, last year was a money payoff goal. This year Is a house goal. So I’ve kind of done it in a different way. It has felt good having those goals and achieving them.
