Strength & Dignity: A Proverbs 31 Woman {Part 12}

In part 12 of this series we look at verse 21.  The verse says: She does not worry about her family when it snows, because they all have fine clothes to keep them warm.  The Proverbs 31 wife is prepared for all seasons.  She makes sure her family is well taken care of.  She has everything her family needs for the change in seasons.  She doesn’t have to scramble around at the last minute to make sure she has everything.

Are you prepared for the changing seasons?  Does your family have the clothing items they need?  Before each season, go through each family member’s clothing.  Get rid of old worn out items that don’t fit or items they don’t wear.  If there are crucial items (i.e. coats, shoes, etc.) that need to be replaced, go ahead and do that.  For bigger items like coats, I like to buy a year ahead at the end of the season when they go on sale.

For adults, you can get more wear out of items for longer periods or time, but for children they out grow things so fast.  Adults should look for quality over quantity, and choose timeless pieces that won’t go out of style quickly.

Part of providing and taking care of your family is making sure they are prepared for different life changes.  Clothing is just a small part of that.  It just takes a little planning and preparation to make sure they are ready.

Here is a snap shot of different seasons to prepare for and when.  I feel like this is basic knowledge, but it is nice to see it all in one place.  To really be prepared and more frugal the best time to shop for a season is actually at the end of that season the year before.  You might not find everything you want, but you could find some awesome deals on great stuff.

I also want to be clear that I am not talking about buying just to buy.  I am talking about when you really NEED clothes for your family.  Some seasons you might not have to prepare for at all.

Strength & Dignity Part 12 action item:

Take inventory of your family’s clothing.  Get rid of items you no longer need, and replace any crucial pieces.  Now is a good time to start planning Easter outfits if you haven’t already.
