Strength & Dignity: A Proverbs 31 Woman {Part 14}

In part 14 of this series, we look at verse 23.  The verse says: Her husband is respected at the city gate, where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.  In this verse we see that the Proverbs 31 woman’s husband is a man of influence.  He is respected in the city.  He has a wife that allows him to be the leader of their house which also empowers him to be a leader in the community.

Do you respect your husband and build him up, or are your words and actions bringing him down?  I know it can be so easy to let our everyday frustrations or annoyances with our husbands become how we speak about him to other people.  That kind of action can bring strife to a marriage.  How do you think that would make your husband feel if he knew you vented to your girlfriends about him regularly?  I’m sure he would be hurt and feel disrespected.

Your husband is your soulmate and partner in life.  As wives we are meant to support our husbands, build them up, and encourage them.  If you are frustrated with your husband, talk to God about it.  Pray for the situation to change.  Bashing your husband behind his back will only make matters worse in a marriage.

I know in today’s world it has become the “norm” to get together with your girlfriends and complain about your husband, but that is the kind of stuff we need to guard our hearts and minds against.   The world tells us that it is ok and normal, but it is NOT.
