Strength & Dignity: A Proverbs 31 Woman {Part 21}

In part 21 of this series, we look at verse 31.  The verse says: Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.  This is the last verse of the passage.  Here we see that the Proverbs 31 woman is also being praised by those outside of her home. I know in part 19 we discussed how it is more important to get the praise of your family over others.  Here it shows that by prioritizing her family and seeking God’s will in all she does she will still be praised by others even if their approval is not what she seeks. And that is awesome!  It is ok to receive praise from others, but it shouldn’t be what we seek above anything else.

For some reason this verse reminds me of Billy Graham.  As I am writing this post, he went to be with the Lord yesterday.  Billy Graham did not seek the approval or praise of men, but he still received it.  He did what he knew was God’s will.  He dedicated his life to Him, and God allowed him to be praised and honored by others.  He did not get caught up in all of it.  He always turned the praise and honor back to God.  That is a great thing to remember when we are receiving praise and honor from others.  It is the perfect opportunity to turn that back to God.

We have come to the end of the series, but be on the lookout for a wrap-up post tomorrow!

Strength & Dignity Part 21 action item:
