Strength & Dignity: A Proverbs 31 Woman {Part 4}

Part 4 of this series looks at verse 13.  The verse says: She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands.  The part that sticks out to me about this verse is that the good wife works with eager hands.  I’ll be the first one to tell you that I am not always eager to work, especially after a long day at the office.  I know that if certain things don’t get done on a daily basis, it could create more chaos for my family.  I definitely want to avoid that!

Strength & Dignity: A Proverbs 31 Woman {Part 3}

Part 3 of this series looks at verse 12.  The verse says: She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life.  When I think about bringing my husband good, I think about praying for him daily.  Supporting him in his role as leader of the family.  Picking up the slack when he has had a hard day at work and needs to rest.  This verse doesn’t say when she feels like it, it says ALL the days of her life.  That means the rest of your life, you are supporting this man, praying for him, and helping him be the leader God has called him to be.  Whether you think your husband deserves your help or not, God calls us to support him through thick and thin.

Strength & Dignity: A Proverbs 31 Woman {Part 2}

The second verse in Proverbs 31 that describes the good wife is verse 11.  The verse says: Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value.”   When I think of having full confidence in someone, I think of trusting them completely.  Trusting their decision making skills.  Trusting their ability to do what needs to be done.  Trusting them to be faithful.  Trusting them to be open and honest.  Trusting them to communicate effectively.

Strength & Dignity: A Proverbs 31 Woman {Part 1}

The first verse in Proverbs 31 that describes the good wife is verse 10.  The verse says: “A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.”  The first thing that sticks out to me about this verse is that a noble wife is hard to find.  A noble wife is a treasure to her husband and is very valuable to him.  Being a noble wife isn’t always easy, because if it were, being one wouldn’t be so rare.  It takes effort, hard work, and self-discipline to be one.

Strength & Dignity: A Proverbs 31 Woman {Intro}

In today’s world, we can easily lose sight of how important it is to be a wife and mother.  The world tells us that we have to look outside the home to be successful, but really our most important work is inside our own homes.  As women, we are tasked with the job of running a household, carrying and having babies, raising our children, preparing meals, etc.  Whether you are a stay at home mom, a work for from home mom, a work outside the home mom, or you’re not a mom yet it is a lot to juggle all of those responsibilities.

Goals for the New Year

With the new year right around the corner, I know most people are thinking about their new year resolutions.  For most, it is the same every year.  This is the year I am finally going to do {fill in the blank}.  For most people, their motivation fizzles out by the time February hits and they fall back into their old habits or forget all about their resolutions.

Southern Farm Wife Facebook Group

Southern Farm Wife (2)

Instead of having a Facebook page for the blog, I created a group.  My hope is that the group will be a Christ centered community where wives and mamas (and future wives and mamas) can come together to better themselves for their families.  I hope it will be a place for encouragement, inspiration, guidance, and acceptance as we all travel on this crazy journey called life.  The link is below.  Can’t wait to connect with you!
